YEAR OF DA HORSE

Design Name:

year of da horse

Design Backstory

For the last 5 years, we’ve made it a tradition to come out with a Chinese New Year zodiac design. In true Eden fashion, the Year of Da Horse had to make its grand debut with a few Zodiac friends getting a new look for the new year. A new chicken, updated monkey and a few fresh fruits and foods.

Year of the Horse will be especially special as three out of five of Team Eden are horses. According to the internet, horses are high-energy, enthusiastic, cheerful and quick to compliment others. Sounds like us, right?!

Fun design facts:

Truthfully the design centers around the zodiacs and with 12 adorable friends, there wasn’t much room to play with anything else. However, we did manage to squeeze in a few key lunar new year traditions – delicious food (dim sum!), pretty floral arrangements, a happy Chinese Lion and everyone’s favorite ‘red envelopes’.

Over the years, our design has evolved with the zodiacs consistently adjusting a little throughout the last 5 designs. Check out how we went from Year of da Tiger in 2022 to Year of da Horse in 2025.

Celebrating Chinese New Year but make it cute!

Here are 3 ways we ring in the new year, Eden style:

GATHER TO EAT GOOD FOOD

A Lunar New Year tradition that spans various cultures includes a “family reunion dinner” held around the new year featuring an array of dishes (fish and hand made dumplings!). According to tradition, having leftovers the next day, symbolizes abundance to start the New Year.

At Eden, we gather often and dim sum is always on the menu. For us, Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery is a go to and must during Chinese New Year and all year long. Have you tried Char Siu Su? Instead of a puffed pastry, they stuff char siu into a pie crust like casing??? We’re OBSESSED. Be aware, you may not have leftovers so be sure to buy a little extra pork hash to bring in the abundance. LOL!

Wanna bring something to the party? Try our MICRO GAU recipe!

“Every year, my family hosts a large family reunion (the Lam family!) and all of my mom’s cousins and extended family members gather for a meal. Games, food and fun all included! It’s a ‘new year’ tradition we’ve kept that’s spanned a few generations now.”

PLAY FUN CHINESE NEW YEAR GAMES

Whether it’s wearing red during the new year or playing a game of gimme gimme, at Eden, we’re always ready for a fun family game. In 2021, during the pandemic, Juju hosted a virtual get together. There was no skipping jan kan po or gimme gimme on camera and of course, there was no excuse NOT to wear red.

Carry a Year of Da Horse Eden tote to sport your red and be ready to be queen of the new year.

SKIP THE LEE SEE AND PASS OUT GRAB BAG GIFTS

A new holiday tradition we’ve done at Eden is bringing one thing we love to our New Year’s gathering and sharing it with everyone. Skip the red envelope and spread abundance and wealth with your favorite things this new year! On our list of giftable items? Our Year Of Da Horse collection of course!
