Japanese Homes Are Lowkey Geniuses

OK so now that our first set of house guests have left, we’ve discovered some things about living in Japan. And these things? They’re mind blowing! 🤯 And probably not what you’re thinking!

We knew Japan did food 🍱, trains 🚅, and convenience stores 🍙 right… but their houses?? 🏡 Chef’s kiss. 👨🏻‍🍳😘

Here are the little things that make us go, “WHY doesn’t everyone do this?”

Bathtubs that autofill to the exact temp you want.

Spa energy, minus the guesswork.

💡 That tiny window cut-out on bathroom doors so you know if it’s occupied without awkward knocking.

Entire wet rooms = magnetic walls.

Shelves, mirrors, hooks… snap on, snap off, rearrange your life.

Dry your clothes IN the bathroom.

Rainy season? Small space? No problem. Built-in dryer = magic.

Doors that latch + unlatch without doorstops.

Smooth. Silent. Satisfying.

Two words: fish grill.

Yes it’s for fish… but also the fastest croissant toaster we’ve ever owned 🥐

Stove-top heaters that keep one dish warm while you cook the next.

No more “why is my food cold already?”

And don’t even get us started on bidets.

Once you know, you KNOW.

Eleven days into our new adventure here in Fukuoka and we’re jaw-dropped every single day. Ugh, we love Japan so much!

Let us know if you have any other mind blowing things we should be aware of, too!
