We Up’d our Bathroom Game with these Six Things

In the last ten years, we’ve definitely started paying more attention to bathrooms. I blame it on our Vegas house! In Vegas, master bathrooms are luxurious and expansive. There’s normally a tub plus a stand up shower, his and her basins and lots of space to get ready. All this newfound territory gave me a new challenge – how can I step up my bathroom game? Sure you can get the fluffiest towels or light a great smelling candle, but these six things elevated the entire bathroom “experience” for us.

Game on.

FAUX PLANTS

This may be an obvious one considering our entire article dedicated to fake plants here, but they really do create a lush, fresh feel in any bathroom space. One area I’ve learned to utilize that always puts a smile on my face is the ceiling. Hanging plants? They’re my weakness. But hanging plants only work if you drill a hole in your ceiling (hard pass) or use these AMAZING adhesive hooks

The secret to these hooks is they can flip and get affixed to a flat ceiling. Wipe the area, adhere the hook to the ceiling for 24 hours and you’re ready to hang and go.

“If you have a green thumb, you can definitely get a fiddle leaf and watch it grow. They’re beautiful, strong and grow vibrantly in the right environment. Check out my friend Naomi’s bathroom foliage. Love! And you won’t believe, her fiddle leaf has grown up to her roof by now!”

ENTERTAINMENT GADGETS

We know, showers and bochas take no more than 15 minutes, but ever since we started doubling down on this time, life has never been the same. In the bocha, we use this suction cup MagSafe phone holder or Moft MagSafe phone holder to catch up on YouTube hair tutorials, Hasan Minhaj skits or Amazon influencer videos… in that order!

I never thought screen time in the shower would be so joyful, but it is. A quick laugh, a quick Netflix catch up, a quick news brief. It can all be done while sudsing up.

“The kids would love to watch YouTube in the bathroom but no way, they’d never come out! What I do allow them to use is a waterproof jam box to listen to music in the shower. It’s good for me if I want to catch up on a podcast or audible while getting ready too.”

STONE BATH MAT

Nothing is worse than stepping out of the shower onto a soaked bathmat. Your clean feet feel dirty again! Argh. So after graduating from towels to plush mats (which we love!), we finally took the jump and got THIS stone bath mat during Prime Day and we’re never going back! It is priced a little high but trust us… it’s WORTH EVERY PENNY!

UPGRADED SHOWER HEAD

Whenever Bryson books a hotel, he always checks the type of shower head there is. No joke! No rainfall shower? He’ll scroll on. That’s how much a good shower head correlates to his good mood! We love a great rain shower head like this one that we installed in The Eden House bathroom. Not only does the water pressure come out firmly and evenly, but it looks so sleek in a matte black finish. That puts me in a good mood!

PS: That French Shower Door? It’s from Amazon, link here! Oui oui..

“One Sunday night, Charlise took a bocha at Tessa’s house and OMG, I had no idea shower heads could make such a difference! This one from Japan is only available at Hands, but I love it for the water pressure alone. The stream of water feels heavenly but you can feel the grime simply slipping off your body. Perfect for active kids!”

While you can only get the Amane showerhead in Japan, this one from Amazon compares well!

SOAP BAR

Naomi, my friend with the insanely gorgeous bathroom with the tub and fiddle leaf had a hand soap bar in her guest bathroom. Imagine having a choice of 12+ soaps to pick from. Each hand washing experience is totally new and exciting! So when we redid our bathroom at the Eden office, we created a mini three soap bar. We change the scents out seasonally and count down to the day Christmas flavors appear.

PS: Something new we just heard about? Biore’s paw print soap. It’s from Japan so you know it’s totally good and totally kawaii.

BIDET

In other words, a “Japan toilet”. If there’s one thing we miss about Japan whenever we leave, it’s got to be the bidet situation. Japanese bathroom culture is over-the-top! Their bidets can play music to give you privacy, heat the seat to the perfect temp, do a medium or full flush, blow wind to dry, automatically open and close and of course, spray “just right”. So when we came back to Hawaii, we knew we had to covert our toilets. Instead of replacing the entire bowl, we got this bidet seat that has all the same functions (sadly ours at home doesn’t play music) but can fit right over your toilet. Just make sure you have a waterline, as that’s what creates the ultimate clean experience.

And finally, we’d be fools if we didn’t mention two cleaning products we all swear by.

Clorox Wands makes cleaning toilets so easy and mess-free! I love the clean and toss mentality when it comes to scrubbing any throne.

Stock up here.

This pressure cleaner is made for cleaning all kinds of surfaces, but since subway tile scrubbing is Alyssa’s weekly chore, this is a staple in her shower. It makes the work 1000% easier to buff up the tiles and eliminate mold from the grout.
