MINI PROJECT: Real or faux? 3 ways to show off your green thumb.

OK, seriously, a green thumb?! That’s not my forte. Trust me, I’ve tried! We even had a succulent bar in our boutique years ago and I vowed to take some home to care for them. My housekeeper at the time, Gail did her best but sadly, not even her magic touch could keep those ‘these-don’t-die’ plants alive.

But the thing is, I love plants. So of course, I found my own way to a green thumb. And this one’s permanent!

Here’s 3 ways to kick up your plant game…

CUTE ANIMAL PLANTERS

The best part about fake plants? They don’t need watering. Ever!

So go for it, get the cute planter you’ve been eyeing.

I go for variety when it comes to the height, type and size of my plants. Not only does it add dimension but it creates interest through one space. When I spotted these animal planters, I knew they’d have to come home with me.

The lion planter is actually from TJ Maxx. I’ll be honest, finding cute planters is a dime-a-dozen so when you see one you love, scoop it up stat. And the koala plant hanger? A gem from Australia, and fittingly, she’s on the plant hanging on my travel wall!

If we had to pick, we’d grab this small pup planter in a heartbeat.

HANGING PLANTS, BUT FAKE.

We love a good hanging plant. And after finding some gorgeous macrame hanging planters we started our hunt for the perfect cascading plant.  We all have our favorites but here’s a few of our picks:

Eucalyptus (Alyssa loves this one!)

• A classic fern (already in a large basket!) to fill space.

• A simple small cascading plant, perfect for a hanging basket like the one featured.

We use these peel-and-stick adhesive ceiling hooks to hang light plants, anything under 6 lbs, I stick up with these hooks.

If you don’t want to use the 3M hooks, you can always install a bar and hang planters direct from it. IKEA has some great options for this. An option available on Amazon too, linked here!

NOT ALL PLANTS HAVE TO BE GREEN!

I know it’s called a “green thumb” but fake plants are fake plants and these white stunners were a MUST HAVE.

I spotted this beautiful cascading wisteria arrangement at TJ Maxx one day and immediately asked Bryson to get it for me for our anniversary. It adds the perfect touch of ‘floral’ elegance to my sea of green leaves.

FAKE PLANTS, BUT MAKE IT CUTE.

We’ve incorporated plants into every part of the Eden-verse. From stores to the showroom, the Eden House on Waialae and the one in Vegas… here’s the behind the scenes view of how truly obsessed with greens we are.

When we decided to shoot all clothing photos on our iPhones at our warehouse, we had to kick up a white wall.

This was our Eden photoshoot set up for years! These three faux plants created enough “depth” for every shot.

The Vegas house had all of the great plants! The best thing about living in the mainland? HOMEGOODS. The greatest store for finding hidden gems.

It pained me when we rented out our Vegas house and had to sell all of these plants. They were my Vegas friends!

Here are our top 5 places to get  faux plants:

Homegoods: you’ll find gems here if you look! Most plants are onesies, so coming by the same one is rare.

TJ Maxx/Marshalls: Same here. It’s rare to find the same plant twice, but they usually have at least a shelf of table plant options!

IKEA: We love a reliable IKEA haul, you’ll find the same plants at almost all IKEA locations and can buy in bulk to build your greenhouse.

Amazon: Great affordable options that ship to Hawaii? Yes please! In fact, I got these for Alys and Liv one year for Xmas!

Costco: Yes, Costco! From time to time, they have the nicest faux fiddle leaves.

Cheers to growing your own green thumb!
