Boo Bear

Animal shaped food?! You’re speaking our love language.

Even as non-foodie foodies that we are, we can’t resist a cute bear shaped anything. Hand us that bear bread, pass over the puppy cake, we’ll have some of that kitty cat pastry… kudasai! Our bear themed design started off with the nickname “Boo Bear” (a name given to Char from Tanna!) and ended with some ah-dora-BOO design with every bear shaped sweet and treat that Alys could think of.

Fun design facts:

“I gave Char the name Boo Bear from Chloe’s birthday party since it was a nickname I gave to her. LOL!”

Inspired by our favorite bakeries in Hawaii and in Japan, here’s our top 3 “beary” favorite breads:

BRUG, Bear Bread

Our go to bear bread has always been from BRUG Bakery. Chocolate filled bears are a kids favorite (and bonus that they’re so cute and photogenic). If you’re not keen to chocolate filled things, you’re in luck! We usually grab a loaf of perfect snack-sized bears (not filled!) for a mess-free airplane snacks.

Okayama Kobo

This cute bakery opened up in Ward a few years ago and we were shocked when we saw the line wrapping. Good is an understatement, Okayama Kobo’s pastries are divine and SO, SO, SO CUTE. Their cute branding (donning a chubby little bear) and extra adorable animal pastries caught our eye and since then, we’ve been sold.

Great for gifting and perfect for sharing, grab a box today! They have 3 locations (1 in Hawaii and 2 in California).

Honu Bakery

When it comes to cute cakes, we are 100% there. ‘Cause celebrate a birthday, make it cute!

Since Char was a baby, every August, we head to Honu Bakery on King Street for an animal shaped cake. They have mini bears, big bears, cute kitties, paw-fect pups and they’re made to perfection. Not overly sweet and perfectly fluffy? We say they’re perfect for Boo Bear’s birthday.
