Let’s be real, when people think of Hawaii – what’s the first icon you think they think of? Is it a shaka? A rainbow? A flower? Hmm, all good guesses but you’d be surprised to find that it’s a PINEAPPLE.

Yes, our little joyful yellow queen has been iconic and synonymous with Hawaii since we started our design journey in 2020. And boy, has she been through it all with Eden. From our Aloha Vibes design to Bloom Queen, we’ve given our sweet pineapple a new look many times over the years but “Papale Pineapple”? She felt like the PERFECT design to gift to Hawaii lovers near and far.

Besides Aloha Vibes and Bloom Queen, our pineapple has been a mummy in Hallow-Eden, a Christmas tree in ‘Tis Da Eden, a jack-o-lantern in Aloha BOO-mies, a masked bandit in Aloha Masked Bandits, a lei queen in Happi-LEI Ever After and so much more.

Fun design facts:

The funniest thing? I’ve never had a ‘papale’ or lauhala rimmed hat and I’ve grown up in Hawaii my whole life! But when I think of enjoying a beach day in Hawaii or gardening with my parents in Hilo, I kind of wish I had one. I love the idea of having a high bun peeking through the open top of the hat!

So when designing this pattern all I could do was imagine that vibe. It feels so… Hawaii! And you know what? It totally is! Read below to see how our little C got gifted her first papale by a total stranger at Kuliouou Beach Park. #AlohaVibesOnly

Rainbows, flowers and foliage – the perfect match for our sunshine yellow sweet Papale Pineapple.

SWEET pineapple? Yeah, that totally inspired the colors in this design. Besides sunny skies, all I could think about was SWEET TREATS. 3D gummies from Enjoy, chunked pineapple shave ice from Uncle Clays and MY FAVORITE – Dole Whip!

Of course, thinking of these Hawaii classics to create this design reminded me how much people LOVE Hawaii around the world.
