We have a rule when we go “dollar shopping” in Japan – everything has to be
pratical and cute.
If it meets both requirements, we get it! At 100 yen, we admit to going overboard 100% of the time.
Sounds fun to you? You should come with us!
On our most recent trip to Fukuoka, we popped into Can Do in Parco Tenjin.
It’s in the basement so Google Maps gets a little wonky, but follow the Can Do signs and keep heading down.
It’s worth the trek!
HERE’S 5 THINGS WE ALWAYS GET AT CAN DO:
DUCK CAN OPENER
Ever paint your nails, then get an instant urge to have a canned drink? Juice, soda, coconut water, it doesn’t matter. If you’re anything like us, you’re staring down at the can top thinking, “WHAT THE DUCK??”
Nails or sip? Sip or nails??!!
Well good thing we discovered this can opener, which is duckin’ awesome for these awkward moments. Simply slip the tail under the can tab and crack that can open. Nails on fleek, sip in progress.
Available in yellow and white for 100 yen.
SUPER ABSORBENT SPONGE
I have been looking for a really absorbent sponge for Bryson’s sink area for a very long time. He likes to use those colorful Scotch-Brite sponges, but come on. Splash around your sink, but make it cute right?
Low and behold… Can Do does it again! This sponge (available in a bear, cloud and regular rectangle shape) appeared on the shelves. I could tell the absorbency was going to be excellent because I could see water particles on the plastic bag. And boy, did I get humbled by this sponge! It wipes, wicks and keeps all water at bay. I always carry one of these when I travel so I can use it for the bathroom sink. For 100 yen, I toss it (with my dry hands) when the trip is over.
BALLOONS
This may seem random, but it’s not! We always load up on blow up balloons when we’re in Japan, as they make the perfect “practical and cute” decor for all of our Eden celebrations.
We have balloons in all shapes – bears, rainbows, cats with crowns, dinosaurs and most recently PAW PRINTS! You can also get letters, numbers and full sayings like HAPPY BIRTHDAY (300 yen for bigger balloons). For 100 yen, I nominate myself to be the Balloon Queen!
HORIZONTAL CLIPBOARD
Are you a calendar carrier too? If you know, you know.
A horizontal calendar just cannot live wild and free on a vertical clipboard. So when we got our hands on a HORIZONTAL clipboard, our lives changed forever. Now, we comfortably flip through months during meetings in and out of the office. No more neck turning, paper flipping, just pure ease when planning out the months ahead. Cal pals unite!
GRANOLA PACKS
Olivia introduced me to this granola a while back. It’s just sweet enough, crunchy enough and delicious enough to eat for breakfast or as an ice cream topper. But in Hawaii, this granola brand is pricey ($12 for the big bag!).
At Can Do, we found mini packs of this exact same granola at checkout for TWO for 100 yen! We always stock up on these packs now for plane snacks, afternoon pick me ups or for parfait buffets during team meetings. Don’t forget to get two at a time to max the savings!
There are other 100 yen shops in Japan like Daiso, Watts and Seria, but Can Do is a must visit whenever we’re in Japan.
I mean, shop at 100 yen shops, but make it cute!
